Development of an Integrated,
Adaptive Management Protocol for American Black Ducks

This web page describes progress and ongoing work on a study to evaluate
possible use of Adaptive Harvest Management in the development of an international
harvest strategy for American black ducks (Anas rubripes). This
work is proceeding under the auspices of the Black
Duck Adaptive Harvest Management Working Group (BDAHM), which is
providing technical support to the Black Duck International Harvest Strategy
Committee, a collection of managers in the
Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS) and
U.S. Fish and Wildlife (USFWS) charged with the development of an international
harvest strategy. This work is supported on contract to the University
of Georgia, Cooperative Fish and
Wildlife Research Unit from the Black Duck Joint Venture, with funding
from the Biological Resources Division,
USGS, FWS and CWS. Periodic reports, updates, and modeling tools
will be provided on this website and may be freely used, so long as the
BDAHM is acknowledged.
